Our Story

Established in 1972 Modesto Food Distributors, Inc. started as a fresh poultry supplier servicing the greater San Francisco Bay Area. Over time we have grown to supply meat as well. We focus on individual customer needs seeking long term relationships that allow us to better anticipate and fulfill our customer’s requirements. We work with our customers to “custom tailor” their orders, and each order is given careful attention and produced to customer’s expectations.

In the era of factory food production with an” empathis on quantity over quality” we remain a “hands on holdout” with our own local production rooms for meat and poultry. Traditional does not mean not up to date as we have always been among the first adaptors to modern tools and procedures. The USDA, for instance, used us as a pilot plant to help develop the modern HACCP Plan. Our facilities and equipment are kept up to date.

Our established and growing customer base facilitates our commitment to excellence by enabling us to stock a wide variety of fresh meat and poultry as well as rabbits, game birds, ducks, and other specialty products. We maintain competitive pricing on both custom cut and commodity products.
